Barrett Industries Celebrates Earth Day Across Divisions with Environmental Action and Community Spirit
At Barrett Industries, Earth Day isn’t just a date on the calendar — it’s a powerful reminder of our responsibility to protect and enhance the communities and environments where we live and work. In April 2025, our operating companies across the Northeast and Midwest regions took that responsibility to heart, organizing events that combined sustainability, teamwork, and meaningful action.
From stream restoration to roadside cleanups, our employees turned out in force to support projects that reflect our values of environmental stewardship and community engagement. Here’s a look at how each of our divisions marked Earth Day this year:
Northeast Division: E-Waste, Roadside Cleanups & Tree Planting
The Northeast Division hosted a wide range of Earth Day activities, including a region-wide E-Waste Recycling Drive, where employees recycled enough electronics to fill six pallets. Crews in Binghamton, Phoenix, Jamesville, Chenango Bridge, and other locations completed annual roadside cleanups, helping remove litter and debris from local roadsides.

Barrett Midwest Division: 400 Pounds of Trash Removed

In the Midwest, teams from the Barrett MW Division worked together to collect approximately 400 pounds of litter during their Earth Day cleanup initiative. Employees from across the region joined forces to tackle roadside debris and beautify public spaces — reinforcing our commitment to cleaner, healthier communities.
This hands-on approach to environmental responsibility underscores the division’s role in promoting sustainability not only in construction, but in everyday action.
Upstone Materials: 650 Trees Planted in Boquet River Restoration
Upstone Materials took its environmental efforts to the next level by sponsoring and participating in a streambank restoration project along the Boquet River in Westport, NY. In partnership with several conservation groups, including the Essex County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Boquet River Association, Upstone employees helped plant 650 trees along the Beaver Brook tributary.
The full story highlights the event’s goals of improving wildlife habitat, controlling erosion, and promoting water quality — making it a model for community-driven environmental restoration.

Midland Asphalt: Roadside Cleanup and Team Pride

At Midland Asphalt, employees participated in local roadside cleanup projects, taking time to improve the areas surrounding their job sites and facilities. The team also used the occasion to strengthen their sense of camaraderie and collective purpose — working together to preserve the landscapes they’re proud to call home.
Their Earth Day initiative demonstrated that even small acts — when carried out with intention and teamwork — can have a significant positive impact.
One Company, One Purpose: A Cleaner Tomorrow
From New York to Ohio, Barrett Industries’ divisions came together this Earth Day with a shared purpose: to lead by example and take real, tangible steps toward a more sustainable future. Whether through planting trees, picking up litter, recycling electronics, or restoring natural habitats, our employees proved that environmental leadership is part of who we are.
We’re proud of everyone who contributed to these efforts and look forward to building on this momentum throughout the year.
