Colas Safety Week 2025 Van Tour

Barrett Paving – New York Central and New York North

Colas Safety Week 2025, held from June 16th to June 20th, marked the 12th annual global initiative aimed at enhancing safety awareness among employees across Colas’s global operations. The theme for this year, “Shared Vigilance,” emphasizes the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining a safe work environment. This approach encourages all employees to be proactive not only about their own safety but also to look out for their colleagues, fostering a culture of mutual care and attention.

During this week, Barrett Industries played a crucial role in promoting this initiative by driving the Barrett Ambassador van to various job sites and offices. This mobile outreach provided an opportunity to share informative videos that highlighted safety practices and the importance of vigilance. The videos served as educational tools to engage employees and reinforce the message of shared responsibility in ensuring workplace safety.

Visiting (and Feeding) Our Crews

The safety van also delivered food to the crews and employees at each location. Pictured here are a couple of stops around New York Central and New York North. This not only created a festive atmosphere but also helped to bring crews together, allowing for discussions about safety practices and experiences. On Thursday, June 19th, the safety van made its rounds starting at the Litchfield Quarry at 6 am, making stops to Binghamton, Jamesville, Phoenix, and ending the day at the 695 jobsite, finishing up around 4 pm. Each day, the van visited a different region in our Northeast Division following a similar schedule. To finish off the tour, the last stop was at the Wetzel Road office on Friday morning and was followed up with a homemade breakfast cooked for the crews and office staff.

Watching Out for Each Other

Overall, events like Colas Safety Week are critical in cultivating a strong safety culture within the organization, as they provide a platform for reflection, learning, and community building among employees. By reinforcing the theme of “Shared Vigilance,” Colas and its subsidiaries aim to create a work environment where safety is a top priority, and everyone plays an active role in protecting themselves and their teammates
