HRI, Inc. – Heavy and Environmental Construction Region
HRI’s highway construction and paving crews started the University Park Airport – Taxiway A Rehabilitation project, located in State College, PA, in the Spring of 2021. This project has been broken up into three phases and was scheduled to be completed by the Fall of 2022.
During the 2021 season, crews completed Phase 1 of the project. Work started with constructing one new underground detention structure and two managed release concept Best Management Practices (BMPs). Work then moved on to reconstructing and paving the shoulders on 1600 feet of Taxiway A, the main taxiway. The West Holding Bay was expanded, that included a new concrete trench drain and the installation of a 5,000-gallon underground deicing storage tank.
The 2022 season included the last two phases of the project. Work again began with constructing one new underground detention structure and two new managed release concept BMPs. In addition to the taxiway reconstruction, the work for the season included expanding the existing concrete apron in front of the main terminal.
Thanks to the hard work and innovative ideas from the project team, Phase 1 was completed ahead of schedule and HRI continued that hard work in 2022. Thank you to all the crews that worked on this project.
